Most of the children and youth we serve each year come from neighborhoods wracked by poverty. Unemployment, broken homes, school failure, homelessness and teen pregnancy are everyday obstacles to kids who seek and deserve a positive future. They feel hopeless and alienated, and often lack the skills and opportunities for success that their peers from more prosperous neighborhoods take for granted.
We see the promise in every youth, no matter what has gone wrong before. Over the years we have learned how to guide Connecticut's neediest and most vulnerable youth toward success. We reach out to those who are tough, who are withdrawn, who are in pain, and who are fragile. We fit our programs to their needs and stick with them until they have the skills and strength to succeed.
